How to Rub and Buff

Using a cordless rotary buffer, you can polish car paint quickly and easily. Also, you can restore the shine to old faded paint work. To do this you need Rubbing compound which you can obtain from your local auto supply store.

Wear safety glasses and apply the Rubbing compound to the car and the pad of the buffer. Then before turning on the buffer, smear the compound over the area where you are starting at such as the car roof.

With the buffer pressed down onto the car panel, switch on and move the buffer from side to side or up and down. Overlap the area you just covered to get an even buffing effect.

Try not to buff too large an area at once since the compound may become dry before it is used. Especially on a hot, sunny day where it's best to do the buffing in the shade.

Clean the area you just completed with water and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Make sure you clean away any dust from the next area you are going to buff.

It's best to buff edges and details by hand to avoid wearing away the paint. Once you have completed the job and cleaned the car, it's time to add a coat of wax for weather protection.
